Giving employers their say in getting the right staff.....

As you'll know, one of the key issues employers face is getting staff with the right skills to make their business the best it can be.

The good news is that the Government is doing something to help.

It's reviewing industry training and the education system to produce people who are better suited for business.

The best people to tell the Government what is needed are the employers themselves. This is your chance to have your say in how you want people to be prepared to be the best employees for you.

Do you have experiences with workplace training? Do you find it difficult to recruit skilled staff? Are there things you would like to see change in the way the education system prepares people for work?

If you are an employer and answered yes to any of these questions then the Ministry of Education would like to hear from you. As part of the review of industry training, the Ministry is running a survey for employers to find out how industry training and the wider education system could better suit the needs of businesses.

Here's a link to the online employer survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/EmployerSurvey_IndustryTrainingReview .

The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and closes on Friday, 16 December. Please pass this link on to other employers in your network - the Government would like to hear from as broad a range of employers as possible.

Further information on the review of industry training, including a discussion document on the roles within the industry training system, can be found on the Ministry's website (www.minedu.govt.nz/IndustryTrainingReviewTOR). You can also directly contact the Ministry about the industry training review by emailing tertiary.strategy [at] minedu.govt.nz.
